You can use blog writing programs (such as Windows Live Writer) to post entries to a blog powered by IP.Blog.

If you are using IP.Blog 1.4.2 or below (which is compatible with IP.Board 2.3.x) - there is a patch that first must be applied. See Here for details.

This is not necessary on IP.Blog 2 with IP.Board 3.

First, you will need to configure your IP.Blog for your application. Go to your blog, choose "Your Blog Settings" and then select the "Interface" tab.

Enable the "Enable the XML-RPC interface" checkbox, and enter a password - anything will do.

You will notice an API URL that looks something like this:

http://www.mysite.com/ipb2/interface/blog/xmlrpc.php

Make a note of this, as you will need it later.

Now you will need to set up your application, the exact steps in this article is relevant for Windows Live Writer - but most applications are very similar.

When setting up your Blog in Windows Live Writer, you will first be asked which blog service you use, choose "Other Blog Service".

You will then need to fill out some basic information about your blog. For the web address, you can either use the standard URL, which will be something like this:

http://www.mysite.com/index.php?autocom=bl...p;blogid=1&

Or you can use a friendly URL, which will be something like this:

For the username, enter the usual username and that you use to log into the board, however, for the password - you should choose the password that was set up earlier.

You will then be asked the type of blog service you are using, choose "Metaweblog API" - for the remote posting URL, enter the API URL that you obtained earlier.
