Bulk Downloader is a third party application that augments IPS' own File classes, offering the ability to download virtually any type of files uploaded in bulk. Out of the box, this includes post attachments, gallery album images and IP.Downloads file submissions. How does it do this? Essentially, it works the same way that cloud services such as Google Drive do when you request to download multiple files at once; these files are compacted into a single .zip archive before being sent to your web browser. This way, everything is sent over in a single file and your members won't have to go through and download everything one by one. Seamless Integration Bulk Downloader seamlessly integrates into the Forums, Gallery and Downloads applications. Post attachments, gallery albums, and Downloads submissions with multiple files are all supported! Minimal Overhead Bulk Downloader works by generating zip archives dynamically on request. This means there is almost no additional disk or memory overhead involved, even when processing many large files! Developer Friendly API Bulk Downloader offers a clean and straightforward API which other third party developers can take full advantage of in their own applications. AdminCP Settings Permissions are fully configurable for all applications. Getting started BulkDownloader can be installed just as any other IPS application. From your AdminCP, navigate to the Applications page and upload the bulkdl.tar file included with your purchase. Once this has been done, you can configure which groups have permission to use the bulk download feature from the Bulk Downloader settings page, which will now be located under the System tab. Current Limitations BulkDownloader does not currently fully support download restrictions in the IP.Downloads application. If you use these on your community, it's recommended you leave Bulk Downloading as a more exclusive/premium feature for unrestricted members. While BulkDownloader will work with files regardless of where they are hosted (including S3 uploads), it is currently strongly recommended you only use this application with locally hosted files. This is because there are currently memory consumption issues with remotely hosted files, so bulk downloads that are large in size (>100M) can cause memory errors and fail to download. Developer API The BulkDownloader API is very simple to implement and use. Essentially, you just construct an instance of the BulkTransfer class with your desired filename as the constructor argument, add in the IPSFile objects you want to deliver, then finally call sendFiles() to actually.. well, send the files.     We frequently encourage people to use custom CSS files when designing their themes. The reason for this is simple: it makes upgrading your site much easier because IPS4 can apply any changes to its own CSS files, and will leave your custom CSS files untouched. If instead you made edits to IPS4's CSS directly, it wouldn't be able to upgrade them automatically, which means more work for you, and a potentially broken UI on each upgrade. Something that's not quite as common, but that we still strongly suggest, is using custom template bits as much as possible. The most common template you'd edit is globalTemplate, perhaps to include some extra resources in the <head>, a custom header, and maybe some footer pieces. The usual approach would be to simply add all of that custom HTML directly into globalTemplate, but my recommendation is that you instead create each piece as a custom template bit, and then include it. With templates, it's not quite as much of a clear-cut benefit as with CSS; you'll still need to modify the original template in order to include your custom pieces of course. But there's still good reasons for doing so; it keeps your template as clean as possible, meaning if in a later upgrade you have to revert it to get the latest changes, reapplying your custom pieces is easy - you just add the template includes back in. We've been taking this approach with all custom themes we've created since IPS4's release (dozens by my last count). We try and keep the naming convention consistent too. All custom templates are named _customABC.phtml and exist in the /front/global/ group in the core application. This puts them in an easy-to-find location, and because of the underscore prefix, they're shown at the top of the directory.     This plugin displays the weather in a location specified by the administrator. It can display the weather in your forum header (both desktop and mobile) or in a widget. Click on the icon will show a forecast for 5 days. You can customize the following options: All units (Celsius or Fahrenheit, km/h or mi/h, e.t.c); Choose the type of weather icons: font icons or colorful image icons; Set an icon height to fit your template. The current weather information is updated every 15 minutes, and the forecast information is updated every hour using the Weather Underground API. This plugin fully supports translation. Installation instructions Upload all files from uploads folder into your uploads folder on the server; Install plugin in the ACP. Go to https://www.wunderground.com/weather/api and register as developer. After that open a "Key settings" page and copy your secret Key ID. Paste it into you plugin settings in the ACP. Go to https://www.wunderground.com again and find you location using "Search locations" field. The opened webpage would have an URL like https://www.wunderground.com/q/zmw:00000.1.71892.     A color picker powered theme for IPS.Suite 4.x! Elegant is a minimalistic theme controlled by a color picker, allowing each of your members to choose their own unique color scheme. Theme Features Theme Settings Easily enable, disable or modify theme features such as background images, logos, social media links, guest messages and colors. This makes modifications and upgrades very simple since little code changes are required. Color Picker Elegant comes with a color picker, allowing your members to choose their own unique color scheme. Their selection is saved via cookies and a "reset" buttons lets them easily revert back to your default color scheme.     Our Pages app includes a powerful feature that allows you to create your own databases within the community. Within each database, you create custom fields (we support a number of custom types, from plain text fields, to YouTube embeds and more). And while we provide some generic, simple templates to display your data, custom templates allow you to more precisely control how your database looks in a manner best suited to your site. Anyone who has created a Pages database will be familiar with using custom fields. You may have created a field for the title of your item, or an upload field so that the item contains a file for users to download. But beyond these straightforward uses, I wanted to explore some more advanced uses of custom fields. Fields don't necessarily have to be displayed to the user - or at least not in the usual way. We can use them as configuration options for our record display, or manipulate the data in order to show it in a different way. Let's take a look at some examples. 1. Adding an optional badge to records We'll start with a fairly simple example. In our Guides section, we highlight guides that have a video tutorial by showing an 'Includes Video Guide' label on the listing: We achieve this simply by having a Yes/No field that we turn on as needed. In the field format, we turn the Yes/No value into the label by setting the format to Custom and using this code: {{if $formValue == 1}} <span class='ipsType_medium'><i class='fa fa-video-camera'></i> <strong>Includes Video Guide</strong></span> {{endif}} 2. Using fields as a way to configure the record display Fields don't necessarily need to be shown to users. Instead, we can use them as a means to configure the record display, giving us some really powerful flexibility in how we show records. In this contrived example, I'm going to create a field that changes the background color of the content. Create a Select Box field. Each option key will be a hex color, while the value will be the name the record creator will choose. Set the field key to record_background Set the field formatting to Custom, and the format to simply: {$formValue}. This means it will output our hex value instead of the color name. In the display template assigned to this database for records, we can use the field like so: <div style='background-color: #{$record->customFieldDisplayByKey('record_background', 'listing')|raw}' class='ipsPad'> ...rest of the template... </div> Now, when you create a record, you can choose a color and that color will be used when the record is shown: You can use this approach in others ways - toggles to control the layout of the record, or options for grid sizes, or even take an upload field for images and set the background of an element as that image. 3. Pass data to 3rd-party integrations Pages has built-in support for several 3rd party integrations, such as Spotify, Soundcloud, YouTube and Google Maps. But using custom fields, you can pass data to other services too. Let's say we wanted to embed an iTunes album widget into each of our records - perhaps the album is relevant to the Pages record in some way and we hope to encourage some click-throughs. In this example, we'll use the embed.ly service. Create a URL custom field. Set the field key to itunes_album Set the field formatting to Custom, and the format to: <a class="embedly-card" href="{$formValue}">iTunes Album</a> <script async src="//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js" charset="UTF-8"></script> In your database display template, position the field as desired by adding: {$record->customFieldDisplayByKey('itunes_album', 'listing')|raw} Now when you add an iTunes album link to your record, you'll get an embed automatically! This approach is great for a range of uses. Perhaps you have an Amazon Associates account and want to add a relevant product link to each of your records so that you earn a commission when users click through. You converse with CCBill's Merchant Support regarding your proper choice(s) for Subaccounts and Forms. This step is critical, as it will determine how you will configure your payment gateways. You upgrade to the latest stable version of IPS 4.x with IP.Commerce enabled and no outstanding bugs. You have no third-party applications, plugins, or hooks that interfere with the normal functioning of IP.Commerce. I will make every effort to explain what options are available to you in CCBill and to assist you. However, due to the nature of this payment gateway and how CCBill receives pricing information in their forms, it is critical that you ultimately communicate with your Account Representative at CCBill to determine what options are most appropriate for you. This file will support IPS 4.x over its lifetime. I am personally committed to ensuring this file works for the lifetime of IPS 4.x, and if there are any changes that need to be made to the file, I will ensure those changes are immediately released. This file will be documented. Working with CCBill can be tricky and complex. This payment gateway is different from others and isn't a one-click install. CCBill doesn't have a true API, so you will need to configure both CCBill and your IP.Commerce settings to match your needs. I add "VIP Olympian" purchase to my cart, which is a recurring subscription of $20 / mo. On the checkout page, I am presented with two payment options to pay using credit card or online check, both through CCBill. CCBill Forms - 2 images. I am redirected to the CCBill form, which requires me to enter in my billing, address, and new account information. Once I submit, CCBill gives a payment confirmation with a link back to website. Success! CCBill Portal - 2 images. The first image is homepage of CCBill with link to Admin Login. Second image is my dashboard, which confirms the 2 purchases made Yesterday. Email - 3 images. First email is CCBill's confirmation to the subscriber. Second email is CCBill's confirmation to merchant. Third email is IPS 4's confirmation. Payment Settings - 2 images. First image shows two different payment gateways for CCBill (one for credit cards; the other for online bank checks). Second image shows live transaction marked as approved in ACP. Images valid as of April 2016. Questions & Answers Does the gateway accept ## payment type in ## country? You will need to refer to CCBill's payment processing options as well as your account. Some countries allow certain payments while others don't, although you will find CCBill's payment options are normally more than enough for buyers. What pricing option do you use? I'm on the Direct plan, which is only available to new sign-ups, although you should converse with an Account Representative to determine which one is most appropriate. Can my website contain ## content? You will need to submit a Merchant Application to see if your project is approved. For example, during my website's risk and compliance review I had to remove certain kinds of content. How do I configure my webhooks / subaccounts / test user / dynamic pricing in CCBill? CCBill offers extensive documentation, and you'll find their Live Chat is fantastic and will even do most of the work for you if you ask nicely or sound really confused. Is this purchase for life? Yes, this is a one-time purchase that is for lifetime and gives you download rights to all future updates to this specific file. Why is the purchase so expensive? This cost is a fraction of what it would cost for a custom development job (as my wallet knows many times over). Let's face it, you're already losing money every month on server costs, bandwidth, storage, cloud distribution, domain renewals, and everything else - I know I was. How much more can you afford to lose before you find a suitable solution? This gateway is a one-time, upfront investment so you can begin earning money. This file's price point is calibrated for serious webmasters who need a reputable and trusted payment gateway for high risk content. And since you're a serious webmaster, then you're serious about finding a solution to make your community prosper. Are refunds allowed? No, this file is designed for webmasters who understand and want to invest in their own communities for the long-run, and understand the expectations before purchase. Will the gateway work with Community in the Cloud customers? This payment gateway may not work on Community in the Cloud customers as you may not (in most cases ) have any direct filesystem (FTP) access. You will need to check with your IPS hosting representative to see if you have FTP access, or if they can upload the file on your behalf. Does the gateway support CCBill Flexforms? No. Flexforms are best used when you can customize forms in advance (eg. an Online Business sells one and only kind of product, and you can define product in advance). In our case, we pass along variables via dynamic pricing to CCBill's standard Jpost form based upon the buyer's cart, so the gateway already customizes the form for you. This gives flexibility to you as a webmaster, since you can add / remove products and increase / decrease prices in the ACP without worrying about changing your Flexform; when your buyers checkout, the exact price is passed on to CCBill's standard form. What are your use cases? I personally use the gateway to sell recurring subscriptions, although it can be used for any of the major classes of IPS products: digital goods, physical goods, advertising, subscriptions, etc. All this gateway does is handle the actual payment; everything else is handled by IP.Commerce.
