Works is progressing well on the next version of our blogging software. A lot has already been completed and I wanted to take a moment to share some of the improvements. Efficiency and Extensibility I've put a lot of effort into refactoring a few core classes to make them more useful and extensible. The ultimate aim is to remove function duplication and consolidate common actions into single functions or classes. I've also introduced more caching to lower the query count and remove some of the more intensive queries. This has seen a reduction of nearly 60% of SQL work on a few page views alone. Categories Return During the development for IP.Blog we converted the categories system into tags. We felt that being able to apply several tags to a single blog entry was more useful than putting it into a category. This worked well but I felt there was still a need for 'fixed' categories. I've added categories back in and you can select multiple categories to file an entry in as well as as create new ones on the fly. We are pleased to announce that the second, supported release of IP.Tracker 1.3 is now available for download from IPS Resources. About IP.Tracker 1.3.1 This release requires at least IP.Board 3.0.4 If you have renamed the /admin directory, you must upload the files from /upload/admin to the renamed directory, failing to do so will result in the files being uploaded to the wrong folder! This release is supported by the community project team, it is not supported under your IPS support contract. We are still investigating the custom field issue and need your help in eliminating the issue, please reply to the open bug report if custom fields do not work in 1.3.1. This is a stable release, but we are aware that there will be a few bugs here and there. We do ask that you report any bug you find in the bug tracker to help us eliminate them from future releases. Before reporting please first quickly check to see if anyone has already reported your issue. We thank you for your patience whilst we developed this release, it did take a bit longer than originally planned but we feel the additional time has allowed us to make sure that 1.3.1 is as stable as possible for your community! 1.0 Release Notes: First of all, I took my time with this skin to produce a quality product. It did take longer than expected, but at least you should be getting a quality product. First of all, this is 100% Mozilla compatible. Internet Explorer is not 100%. Not even IPB managed that, but I did make some of the forums with rounded headers that use images. Not all of them are though. This was tested with Gallery, Downloads, and IP.Content. Sorry, ip.blog is not included. I also had tested this with ip.shout and ip.tracker. This should be compatible with them. This skin is a simple modification of the original IPB skin. I didn't want to do too much on the very first skin, but you get the light and dark feeling with this skin. This will be my framework for up and coming skins I create though. In the past, I have made the header with the skin name. This time around, that is not the case. In order to match the header background, I made the header black. How to install: Installation is not to hard to do. In the admin panel of your board, go to the look and feel tab and then go to import/export. Click the export tab. One thing that comes up with pretty fair regularity on these forums is folks asking for something to remove all of the extra junk in their database that is left over from old mods they had installed. With the size of the IP.Board database, it can be a daunting task to go through and identify what all might be extra or what is actually needed. To address this, I've recently updated one of my own personal favorite modifications, the DB Customization Manager. This application consists of a series of tools to cleanup various unused database objects. While the most common need is for cleaning up of database tables and columns, there are also tools to clean things like extra skin templates, settings, caches, and language strings. The way this application functions is like this: It checks all applications you have installed, and looks at the appropriate PHP or XML file for the particular tool you are running to determine which objects it thinks you should have in your database. It then checks your actual database for the same type of object and sees what you actually have in your database. These two lists are then compared and a list of what extra items you have in your database is generated. You are then presented with this list of extra items to determine what to do with it. You can either delete the item or items it found, or leave yourself (or your other staff member) a note explaining what the item is used for. There's a bit of AJAX flashiness built-in to this that lets you do these delete or note-leaving commands on the same page without having to reload anything. It's important to keep in mind that, in almost all cases, having any extra junk like this floating around in your database is not going to cause any real issues. But by using this tool, you can make sure everything is kept tidy and save a bit of database space. If nothing else, it's a good tool to run to at least determine what extra items you might have in there, even if you don't want to delete them. Zobacz całą wiadomość
